Katie, a freelance video editor in desperate need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and bizarre video. Cash-strapped and facing eviction, Katie enthusiastically accepts the gig. The video depicts people being tortured and even murdered on camera – this is surely just a carefully staged fiction. But as this first job leads to even more productive work and the making of more disturbingly realistic snuff films, Katie's life begins to fall apart. Strange figures haunt her apartment, terrible nightmares keep her awake, and a mysterious illness afflicts her cat. It's only when Katie decides to quit her job for good that she learns just how cruel her anonymous employer really is and how much she's paying to get out of her contract.
